Last updated: 5 June 2026Applies to hosted and supported sites
Client responsibility
Clients are responsible for the content, files, links, claims, products, services, and activity connected with their website. Better Site may help design, write, host, or update a site, but the client must make sure their business content is accurate, lawful, and allowed to be published.
This policy also applies to use of Better Site forms, email, support, hosting, and care services. Better Site may refuse requests that would put the website, visitors, providers, or Better Site at risk.
Illegal or harmful content is not allowed
You must not use Better Site services to publish, host, link to, promote, or support content or activity that is illegal, harmful, deceptive, or unsafe. This includes:
- illegal goods, services, instructions, or activity
- fraud, scams, phishing, impersonation, or misleading claims
- malware, viruses, spyware, credential harvesting, or unsafe scripts
- spam, bulk sending, unsolicited messages, or abusive contact forms
- copyright-infringing content, stolen images, copied text, or unlicensed assets
- harassment, threats, hate, abuse, exploitation, or content that encourages harm
- defamatory content or content that breaches privacy, confidentiality, or another person's rights
- false health, finance, legal, safety, or professional claims that could mislead customers or breach industry rules
Resource and technical misuse
Hosting and care plans are for ordinary small-business websites. You must not use the hosting as:
- bulk file storage or backup storage unrelated to the website
- video hosting, large download hosting, media streaming, or software distribution
- a proxy, crawler, scraper, bot service, crypto-mining service, or traffic relay
- a bulk email, newsletter, spam, or mail relay system
- a platform for unusually high traffic, automated requests, excessive form submissions, or resource use that affects other services
If a site needs advanced capacity, Better Site may require a custom plan, restrict the activity, or recommend a different hosting arrangement.
Licences and permissions
Clients must have the right to use any logos, photos, videos, fonts, testimonials, reviews, trade marks, product information, downloads, copy, or other materials they provide.
If a third-party platform, plugin, font, image, or service requires a licence, subscription, or account, the client is responsible for keeping that licence or account valid unless Better Site has agreed in writing to manage it.
Security and access
You must keep any website, domain, hosting, CMS, email, or third-party account access details secure. Do not share access with people who do not need it.
If you believe a website, account, password, or form has been compromised, contact Better Site as soon as possible. Better Site may temporarily restrict access, disable a form, remove a file, or take other reasonable steps to reduce risk while the issue is assessed.
Suspension, removal, or refusal
Better Site may refuse work, remove content, disable forms, suspend hosting, restrict access, or end services if there is a breach of this policy, non-payment, security risk, legal risk, provider complaint, resource abuse, or urgent safety concern.
Where practical, Better Site will try to contact the client first and give a chance to fix the issue. If there is immediate risk, action may be taken without notice. Better Site will aim to keep any action proportionate to the risk.
Reporting misuse
To report misuse connected with a Better Site customer website, email contact@bettersite.co.nz with the website URL, a description of the concern, and any relevant screenshots or links.
